Notes and Sources 1. Liang's Chinese name was listed as 梁金鳌 (Liang Jin’ao) by Xu Run (the oldest CEM list), Tong Yuen Chan (Tang Yuanzhan 唐元湛II, 53) & Kao (1982); but as 梁鼇登 by Won Bing Chung (Wen Bingzhong 温秉忠II, 36), Yung Shang Him (1939), Yung Shang Him (10/1939)& Robyn (1996). In common usage, 鳌 is frequently used for 鼇, both having the same pronunciation.  But why some sources give 鼇登 and others 金鳌 remains unexplained.  For consistency, we have adopted 梁鼇登 "Liang Ao Ting," following LaFargue (1987), who closely followed Yung’s Romanization and sequence of names.
